Other historical/background notes lest I forget:
- Rosalie's parents weren't able to marry due to Exclusion Acts (though I am fudging the Acts' timeline a little. Alternate 1930s, people!), but Rosalie has her father's last name because her mother basically raised hell until it was on her birth certificate. \:D/
- Her mother remembers her father very fondly but Rosalie herself remembers nothing about him as he was deported not long after she was born... She knows a handful of Chinese words (probably Cantonese specifically, I think around that time period most Chinese immigrants were coming from Guangdong? I need to check.), really basic stuff that her mom learned, but her mom (and Rosalie's) pronunciation is atrocious. Rosalie mostly pretends not to know any at all.
