Olympus Upended

Rhoda, the Pythian Oracle. She has only been in this position for two or three years. Prior to that, she was one of many minor priestesses. When the previous Pythia was on her deathbed, she named Rhoda as her successor, and everyone was surprised that she would choose an unusually young priestess of no notable rank or family. Of course, no one would dare gainsay the word of the Pythian Oracle, so Rhoda was instated as the new Oracle at Delphi. Though that hasn't stopped anyone from muttering about her predecessor's choice behind Rhoda's back...

In public, Rhoda cultivates a stately air as befits her station, always striving to appear as proper an oracle as possible. She's rarely seen without an accompaniment of handmaidens or servants (and possibly, in these uncertain times, guards). On the rare occasions she leaves Delphi, she also travels with one or two sacred snakes, often twined around her shoulders. In private, Rhoda is enormously self-conscious of how she's considered unsuitable to her position, and the consequences of her prophecy about the end of the Heroic Age have only exacerbated that. She desperately wants to bring guidance to the people who seek it from her, but she's at a loss to do so with Apollo apparently ailing. Something must be done.
